Engr. Akinwumi Shelton Bada

Engr. Akinwumi Shelton Bada joined Gigawatt Energy after an illustrious career spanning over four decades across Nigeria’s power and telecommunications sectors. Prior to joining Gigawatt, he served as Managing Director/CEO of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), where he led transformational initiatives to stabilize and expand the national grid. He also previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Power Transmission and System Operations and was a key member of the Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP), driving critical infrastructure reforms and system reliability strategies. An engineer by training, Engr. Bada holds an MSc in Telecommunications Engineering from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary, and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), the Nigerian Institute of Power Engineers (FNIPE), and a registered COREN engineer. He also holds membership in the IEEE. Throughout his career, Engr. Bada has been at the forefront of advancing grid operations, SCADA/EMS integration, regulatory framework development (including the drafting of the Nigerian Electricity Grid Code), and cross-border electricity trading under the West African Power Pool (WAPP).
